I have been teaching Foundation Training since 2017 as a stand alone movement modality, however since studying Tom Myers Anatomy Trains, which then introduced me to the Slings Myofascial Training I now integrate Foundation Training with my Slings practice. The combination of gently anchoring from the pelvis towards the floor to elevate the ribcage and lengthen the spine freeing up the hips to do what they are designed to do – hinge, is achieving incredible results.
Clients express feeling a sense of freedom in their hips and lower back while strengthening the superficial backline of fascia and muscles to support the whole of the spine.
3 popular reasons clients choose to practice Foundation Training
- Rehabilitation of back or spinal injuries
- Create space and length in the spine
- Support the lumbar spine while strengthening the entire posterior chain of muscles
What are the benefits of practicing Foundation Training?
- Decompress the spine – sedentary habits of sitting at a desk for hours compresses the lumbar spine
- Elevate and expand the ribcage – through simple breathing techniques you can create and maintain space in your ribcage and increase oxygen to your brain
- Re-learn how to hinge from your hips – no more loading the lower back, reach the hips behind the heels as you bend forward
